The Village of Berwyn is excited to announce that it has received provincial recognition for the Main Street Revitalization Project. The project was selected in the Building Economic Strength Category for communities with a population under 10,000 through the 2025 Minister’s Awards for Municipal and Public Library Excellence.
“Our downtown area has become an inviting space for people to gather and it reflects the pride we have in our community,” said Village of Berwyn Mayor Nicole Johnson. “We are very proud to see our community recognized at the provincial level, and we share this award with our residents, and thank them for their patience throughout the process.”
Completed in August 2024, the project transformed Berwyn’s main street with new pavement, gutters, sidewalks, benches, and flower boxes, creating a safer and more welcoming downtown for residents and visitors.
In a congratulatory letter to Council, Alberta’s Minister of Municipal Affairs Dan Williams wrote:
“I commend you on your efforts to revitalize Main Street by upgrading infrastructure, enhancing safety and accessibility, and improving the appeal of the village’s core commercial area.”
The Minister’s Awards celebrate municipalities and libraries that demonstrate excellence and innovation in serving their communities. Award recipients are featured in a digital booklet and video series on the Minister’s Awards website at https://www.alberta.ca/ministers-awards-for-municipalities.
