Position Overview:
As the CAO, you will be the key advisor to the Village Council, providing leadership and direction in the administration of all municipal operations. You will be responsible for implementing the Council’s policies and decisions, overseeing the daily operations of the village, and working closely with the community to achieve our strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management: Provide strategic leadership to the village staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Policy Implementation: Implement the policies and decisions of the Village Council, ensuring alignment with the community's needs and goals.

Financial Oversight: Oversee the development and management of the municipal budget, ensuring responsible fiscal management.

Community Engagement: Engage with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to promote community involvement and address local concerns.

Strategic Planning: Assist in developing and implementing strategic plans to guide the village’s growth and development.

Operational Excellence: Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of municipal services and programs.
Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in municipal government or a related field is preferred. While prior experience as a CAO is not necessary, a strong understanding of municipal operations and governance is essential.

Education: A minimum of an undergrad degree or either enrolment or completion of the NACLAA certificate.

Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. The ability to innovate and adapt to changing circumstances is highly valued.

TEMPORARY GRADER OPERATOR / PUBLIC WORKS LABOURER
The Village of Berwyn is accepting applications for a temporary full-time Grader Operator / Public Works Labourer position.
POSITION SUMMARY
Term: Approximately 4 Weeks
Reporting To: Public Works Foreman
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating municipal equipment to perform roadway grading and maintenance throughout the Village, while also assisting Public Works staff with utility maintenance activities, including curb stop exercising, inspections, and other assigned municipal infrastructure projects.
DUTIES
• Operate Village grader and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform grading and maintenance of municipal roadways, lanes, and gravel surfaces.
• Assist Public Works staff with curb stop exercising (CCs), utility inspections, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
• Assist with general Public Works operations as required.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed.
• Follow all Village safety procedures, policies, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Other duties as assigned by the Public Works Foreman or Administration.
REQUIREMENTS
• Previous grader operating experience is required.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's Licence (or equivalent).
• Grader Operator certification or demonstrated experience operating graders and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively with Public Works staff and the public.
• Physically fit and capable of performing strenuous outdoor labour for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of safe work practices and equipment operation.
ASSETS
• Experience working in municipal public works operations.
• Utility maintenance or water and sewer system experience.
• Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.
• WHMIS Certification.
• Equipment operation certifications.
