Let's Honour Local Educators!

On October 5th, the recipients of the Prime Minister's Award for educators were announced. We congratulate the winners and the other nominees put forward by their communities across Canada. Without educators, our curricula and textbooks do little; they need to be animated, made relevant to students through the passion and dedication of teachers.
Nominations for the 2027 awards are now open in all three categories, Teaching Excellence, Teaching Excellence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Early Childhood Education.
Our part of the Peace River Country has a wealth of great educators from preschool level on up. If such a person has made a difference in your life, your child's or your community's, we encourage you to work with your neighbours to put them forward for national recognition.
There are as many great teaching styles and approaches as there are great teachers. Maybe this educator had a particular talent at explaining complex material, or giving students a new sense of confidence and security in their thinking, or inspiring intellectual courage in taking on tough material, or leading extracurricular non-academic programs in their spare time. Whatever has made an educator great, that greatness merits celebration.
Nominations open today and the nomination period continues through January 13th. If you would like to submit a nomination, please click here.
