Council Meeting Highlights - April 16, 2021

RCMP Police Dog Service Training Council reviewed correspondence from the RCMP Police Dog Service regarding a potential training opportunity in Berwyn. The unit is exploring the use of municipal buildings or properties for training exercises. Administration will continue to engage with RCMP and provide updates to Council as information becomes available.

Village of Berwyn Campground Council reviewed the draft registration form and campground rules and discussed operational options for the 2026 season. Council requested that a survey be developed to gather resident input. Administration will review regional campground registration processes to ensure ease of use and will clarify in the rules that auxiliary power sources are not permitted during quiet hours (11:00 pm to 7:00 am).

Local Authorities Pension Plan Council reviewed information regarding the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) for Village of Berwyn staff and tabled the matter for consideration during upcoming budget discussions. Public Works Safety Training Council approved funding in the 2026 operating budget for Public Works staff safety training and certification and directed Administration to proceed with enrollment in required courses, including safety equipment operations, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, and Ground Disturbance.

Audit Extension Council directed Administration to request an extension from Alberta Municipal Affairs to submit the audited financial statements, allowing additional time to finalize the audit.

Water Meter Installation/Removal Waiver Form Council reviewed and approved the interim Water Meter Installation and Removal Waiver Form. The waiver outlines property owner responsibilities, confirms municipal ownership of equipment, and establishes limitations of liability related to private plumbing conditions.

Village Improvements Council and Administration discussed the damaged gate at the Public Works yard and directed Administration to proceed with repairs. Installation of culvert markers along 50 Street was also identified in preparation for winter 2026–2027.

Village Property and Asset Tour Council directed Administration to coordinate a tour of the Village of Berwyn property and assets for Council and Administration. 


The next regular Council Meeting will be held on May 14, 2026 at 6 pm in Council Chambers at the Village of Berwyn Administration Office. Council meetings are open to the public and are also available virtually via Zoom.
