Strategic Planning Session
Sherry Crawford, General Manager of Community Futures Peace Country (CFPC), attended the meeting at the Council's request to provide information regarding strategic planning services provided by CFPC. Council voted to schedule the full-day planning session led by Crawford for November 24, 2024
Arena Sale
Council directed administration to engage a realtor to list the Berwyn Arena. While Council understands the community's desire to keep the arena operational, it is not financially sustainable for the Village to maintain.
NRED Grant Discussion
Council reviewed the Northern and Regional Economic Development Program (NRED) grant application criteria and agreed to pursue an application to upgrade the Village of Berwyn signage and revitalize the Berwyn Water Tower.
Office Closed for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Council voted to close the Village of Berwyn administration office on Monday, September 30, 2024, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency Contract
Council approved a five-year contract with the Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency (MMSA), maintaining current service rates. During the meeting, MMSA Executive Director Brian Allen and MMSA Board Chair Sandra Eastman provided an update on MMSA services and staffing. The agency offers municipalities support in planning, economic development, and community engagement.
